Problem
Internet Explorer shows Chinese characters as squares and not readable.
Solution
To read Chinese in Windows XP, you need to install the East Asian Language. You will need Windows XP CD during installation. Here are the steps.
- Access the Windows control panel

Access regional options

Add other languages

Check “Install Files for East Asian Languages”. Follow instructions on the screen to install the language package.

After you reboot the computer, you should be able to read Chinese.
