Beckhoff PC’s TwinCAT-EtherNet/IP-Slave (EIP) Software can bridge the gap between Beckhoff inputs and output module and Allen-Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix. However, I ran to problem with my project, which used more than 300 double integer (DINT). I checked with Beckhoff. Beckhoff replied that EIP slave software could only use one either connection to Allen-Bradley PLC. Allen-Bradely limited each connection to 250 words (INT) in and 248 words (INT) out.
I had to change all double integer (DINT) to integer (INT), which solved my size limit problem. This is nice to keep in mind next time I design an Allen-Bradley system with Beckhoff input and output hardware.
